As crew you have a passion for travel. It’s obviously a pre-requisite for the job. You enjoy visiting new places; cities you may never have got to travel to in a regular job, you enjoy embracing different cultures, meeting new people, having the opportunity to do and see things that are quite out of the ordinary. Being in the right place at the right time helps (thanks to the Rostering Department) – downroute in Beijing for the Olympics, New York for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, Hong Kong for the Rugby 7’s. and of course, we can’t forget the benefits of having staff travel concessions.
Even if your roster is an endless month of turnaround flights and your least favourite layovers, you can still enjoy days off and vacations in amazing destinations – 3 days in Venice for some well-earned rest and relaxation, 4 days to walk the Great Wall of China, 2 days to fly home and see family! The absolute joy of being aircrew.
As always, we travel to some fantastic locations in each issue courtesy of our international crew writers. This month we head to Beijing, Africa and Venice for your reading pleasure.
Enjoy the places you visit and the people you meet!
